Lyme Park has teamed up with Heatons’ Men in Sheds to create a special experience for families this Easter.
The Stockport based community group, known for their woodworking skills, have created nearly two dozen for the National Trust’s upcoming Easter Adventures at Lyme family trail.
Visitors to Lyme from 23 March to 7 April are invited to take part in a number of activities that celebrate the beauty of the outdoors while promoting nature play and skill development.
With the involvement of Heatons’ Men in Sheds, the garden will be transformed into an enchanting egg hunt, filled with hidden surprises and challenges on accessible paths.
Older children can find a more adventurous experience on Green Drive with [activity example]. And Crow Wood is filled with nature-themed activities for families at every turn.
Prof. Terry Hewitt, Secretary at Heatons’ Men In Sheds says, “We are excited to collaborate with the National Trust on this project. As a voluntary group we’re keen to give people a space to work together and learn new skills, while promoting the physical and mental wellbeing of the community.”
“We hope that the activities and decorations that we’ve created for Easter bring joy to families, while helping to preserve our local heritage.”
Heatons’ Men in Sheds have spent over 30 hours to create nearly two dozen decorations and activities for the family trail. Families visiting Lyme will have the chance to learn from interactive bird houses, specially crafted by Men in Sheds, which provide fun facts and insights into the birds that call Lyme their home. Families can also spot large Easter Bunnies in the parkland and garden on an Easter Egg hunt. The collaboration not only helps to create a full fun family day out but also helps the community and supports the physical and mental wellbeing of the Heaton Chapel Men in Sheds, through creativity and togetherness.
Meghan MacGabhann, the National Trust’s Experience and Visitor Programming Manager at Lyme, says: “We are delighted to collaborate with Heaton Chapel Men in Sheds to bring some Easter magic to Lyme as part of our family trail. Easter Adventures at Lyme encourages families to connect with the outdoors and learn about nature through play.
