Houghton Weavers in Buxton this weekend

Formed in 1975 the Houghton Weavers emerged  from the North West folk scene where they became increasingly popular after the television debut on the BBC talent show We’ll Call You.

This appearance was only the beginning for the Weavers who were given their own show Sit Thi Down shortly after. They also appeared in many popular TV shows of the time including This is Your Life and The Video Entertainers.

They have an impressive fan base which extends far beyond just being a Buxton favourite, to far flung places such as New Zealand and Tasmania with their album The Blackpool Belle proving a top 10 hit.

Audiences will love their unique blend of comedy and music as the band remain true to their motto ‘Keep folk smiling’.

Houghton Weavers are at the Pavilion Arts Centre on Saturday 9 December 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £19. Discounts are available. To buy tickets contact Buxton Opera House Box Office, Tel: 01298 72190 or visit: www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk
