The Old Millstone chips in

The coronavirus lockdown hasn’t affected The Old Millstone, Waters Green which increased its community efforts by donating perishable food items to local charity, Cheshire Streetwise

The pub, owned by Hawthorn Leisure, donated items including snacks and soft drinks, to support the vulnerable via a foodbank.

Being aware that aware that many in the community are currently struggling to put food on the table, ub partner, Anthony Powell, donated the items to those whose lives are affected by the current crisis.

Foodbanks are also struggling to keep up with demand, meaning that initiatives like this are becoming increasingly necessary.

Anthony said: “We are fortunate enough to be in a position to give back to those in our community who are struggling to make ends meet. After being forced to close, we were left with perishable stock that we were unable to sell, and I couldn’t think of a more worthy cause.”

Hawthorn Leisure managing director of operations, Mark McGinty said: “The Old Millstone is  a thriving community pub, and we are so pleased to see them supporting their local people. We urge all of our pub partners to follow suit and support their communities in these uncertain times.”
