A former WWII Fleet Air Arm pilot and Macclesfield chemist passed away peacefully on Friday 9th October 2020, at his home in Bradnop.
Derek Pearn, aged 96-years, owned and ran Pearn’s Chemists in Macclesfield for many years, was a Macclesfield Rotarian, member of Macclesfield Golf Club and a founder member of the Macclesfield Majestic Theatre Group.
He was possibly the last one of his squadron from the aircraft carrier HMS Searcher which served in the protection of the Artic Convoys and was recently awarded in 2016 The Russian Ushakov Medal.
Derek was the dearly loved husband of the late Sheila Mary Pearne, a much-loved father of Rodney, Clare, Michael and Anne, a loving father-in-law and a treasured gramps and great gramps.
Derek will be sadly missed and most fondly remembered, by all his loving family and friends.
Owing to the current restrictions, brought about by Covid-19, a private funeral service will take place. Family flowers only by request, but if desired donations may be sent for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
