  • SIMPSON APPLAUDS SOLID SILKMEN

Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson was delighted as the Silkmen picked up their first ever win at Crewe with a 1-0 victory.
Ross Draper opened the scoring in the 19th minute and the visitors hung on as the Alex hit the upright twice in the last ten minutes.

Simpson said: "We were tremendous. We dug in, worked hard and hung in there. It`s the first time we have taken points here and I am delighted with that.

"I am so happy for the lads, but it was a bit like Emergency Ward 10 by the end with all our injuries, and people running on empty.

"When you are only one-up you expect them to come at you and we were hanging on in the end but you have to do that against good teams like Crewe.

"We`re not going to get carried away. The game has a habit of biting you on the bum so we are just going to focus on getting 50 points and see what happens from there.
