DON`T SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN TO YOU

As Cheshire Police continue with their winter drink drive campaign, the personal consequences are being highlighted for a young man, who was at the receiving end of a drink drive collision over a year ago which has left him with a disability. The drink driver was a 40 year old woman who was later found to be over two times the legal alcohol limit for driving.

Luke Marshall, 19 was driving in his car with his friend on the evening of 15th July 2012 along Higher Lane, Lymm when they were forced to pull over after driving over debris following a collision where a car had crashed into a wall. The debris punctured his tyres and damaged the bumper. “I went over to the car to check that the driver, a young girl was ok but noticed she was just badly shaken and crying.”

Luke explains “The guy whose house the car had crashed into came out to see what had happened. I needed to change my wheel and he offered to bring some cones out to pop around my car.” Luke walked back down the road, and the man came to bring out the cones. As this was happening Luke heard tyres screeching around the corner and then three seconds later, he could see a car approaching on the wrong side of the road, and realised that it was going to hit him. “It seemed like ages, but it was probably only 2-3 seconds in which I had to react”.
