TRAVELLER`S REST ISN`T TESCO

It looks like we were right first time regarding ownership of The Traveller`s Rest on London Road.

First we were told it was going to be a Tesco store. Then we were told it wasn`t. Now we learn it is – well sort of.

Apparently, One Stop – the convenience store chain who will be operating the store – is actually owned by Tesco.

Several years ago when Tesco acquired the chain the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS), which represented UK corner shops and convenience stores, called for a regulatory investigation into “the continued growth of the One Stop format”.

The ACS argued that One Stop was a “shadow brand” of Tesco
