TIM PEAKS DINER HEADING FOR BARNABY

Tim Peaks Diner is set to be one of this year’s Barnaby Festival highlights. The brainchild of Tim Burgess of The Charlatans, the pop-up café and stage will host eclectic, exciting music and chat all day Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 June.

Located on the lawns of Macclesfield’s imposing Georgian Christ Church, Tim Peaks Diner has a line-up of electrifying new and well-established acts – and all performances are free. Organisers promise ‘special guests, amazing cakes and damn fine coffee’ as well as Tim’s very own ‘Totes Amazeballs’ bars with a feast of food on sale produced by local traders.

Ticketed evening events in the church itself feature headline acts The Blockheads, Shappi Khorsandi and Tim Burgess’ Acoustic Sanctuary, as well as free day-time performances of Acid Brass by The William Fairey Brass Band and from KEMS Orchestra.

This year, Barnaby at Christ Church has been programmed in collaboration with New Order’s Stephen Morris, who brings Tim Peaks Diner to the festival.

Opening at 11am on Saturday 22 June, Tim Peaks Diner features Tim Burgess in Conversation, as Tim reflects on anything from the excesses of rock life to his current creative collaborations.

Tim Peaks DJs will entertain the Diner on Saturday, as will up and coming local acts including Izzie Naylor, Vermillion Tides, Howling Rhythm, Church Party and Addy and the Hill.

Sunday’s line-up includes Maxonian New Order drummer Stephen Morris, who will be in conversation with his friend and contemporary Tim Burgess of The Charlatans. Eavesdrop their musings on the early days of Macc and Manchester music to current musical influences and new projects.

Also on Sunday are homegrown Macc teenage talent Hot Vestry, Manchester Evening News Debut Album of the Year winners, Bird to Beast and former Coronation Street star turned singer songwriter, Matt Thomas Thompson.

New Order’s Gillian Gilbert is joining forces with Nik Colk Void of Factory Floor for a special Sunday afternoon DJ set. Gilbert and Void are promising an eclectic, unpredictable and occasionally bewildering brouhaha of sound – a perfect Sunday afternoon let your hair down.

Tim Peaks Diner will be open Saturday 21 June 11am-11pm and Sunday 22 June 12pm-11.30pm (with bar from midday both days).
