–Cheshire law firm, SAS Daniels, charity of the year is Children’s mental health charity, Visyon.
Staff from SAS Daniels’ Stockport, Macclesfield, Chester and Congleton offices will take part in various fundraising activities to support charity throughout the coming year.
Visyon, which has bases in Congleton and Crewe, is the largest provider of early intervention mental health support in Cheshire and the Staffordshire Moorlands. It offers counselling, therapeutic play and creative workshops, family support and mentoring to children and young people aged between four to 25.
Last year the law firm raised almost £2,000 for its previous charity of the year, Stockport-based Weekend Day Centre for Dementia Care. The money raised will contribute to the charity’s aim to move to a new location. Currently the facility provides weekend and bank holiday day care for up to 42 people living with dementia along with their carers.
Over the year staff took part in a number of fundraising activities including a 24 mile swim in 24 hours. Working with a Didsbury film group, a promotional video was created to help raise awareness of the centre, and SAS Daniels donated £250 to the community film group for new equipment to help make the film.
Jean Walker, Head of CSR and Partner at SAS Daniels said, “We are committed to supporting our local community and charity work is an essential part of this. I’m delighted that we have chosen Visyon as our charity of the year as mental health issues impact so many young lives. As our charity of the year, we will do all we can to support the charity, helping it to continue the great work it already does with so many young people across the region.”
Gervase McGrath, Chief Executive Officer at Visyon comments, “We’re delighted that SAS Daniels has chosen us as their charity of the year for 2017/18. Visyon works with 1000 children per year and with many more on our waiting lists, we look forward to SAS Daniels helping us to raise awareness of our work so we can secure the funding we need.”
