A nurse from a Macclesfield care home is celebrating after being shortlisted for Best Nurse Specialist at the National Dementia Care Awards and nominated for Best Nurse at the Great North West Care Awards.

Nurse Tracy Norbury

Nurse Tracy Norbury, at Care UK’s Hollins Park on Victoria Road, has been recognised for her skill and dedication to caring.

The National Dementia Care Awards are held annually and recognise the very best in dementia care across the sector, culminating in an awards ceremony on 9th November 2017. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding performance within their field of work.

The home provides specialist support for the 41 residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Tracy and members of the team at Hollins Park adopt a person-centred approach, and tailor care plans to resident’s individual needs. The team advocate activity-based care, and have introduced a variety of activities to help residents lead their lives as independently as possible, as well as improving personal wellbeing.

Tracy has worked at the home since she was 16 and after training to become a nurse three years ago became deputy manager at the home. Not only does she go over and above with care for the residents with challenging needs, but she continues to support relatives at every stage.

Julie Okhae, home manager at Hollins Park, said: “We’re really honoured that our deputy manager, Tracy, has been recognised for both awards.

“Tracy works hard to focus and motivate the team at Hollins Park. She provides them with a clear vision of life through the eyes of the residents and ensures everyone is treated as an individual. Tracy believes that Hollins Park is “a home for life”, no matter now challenging the resident’s needs.”

Hollins Park has also been nominated for the team award at the Great North West Care Awards.
