Santa Paws meets local MP

Volunteers, staff and puppies from the charity Guide Dogs were joined by Macclesfield MP, David Rutley, recently, to learn more about the charity’s campaign to raise awareness of the problems posed by pavement parking for people with sight loss.

At a reception in Parliament, the charity set up a makeshift grotto, to hand out messages of thanks to MPs that have supported the charity during 2017. The gift, a miniature stocking, contained Christmas messages from Macclesfield residents, highlighting their support for Guide Dogs’ pavement parking campaign

Speaking after the event, David said: “It was a pleasure to meet some of the guide dogs in training and receive the messages from Guide Dogs supporters in and around Macclesfield. Pavement parking is a real concern for people with sight loss, as well as a potentially dangerous obstacle for wheelchair and mobility scooter users, and those with pushchairs. I hope that this campaign will help to raise awareness of these important issues
