Local drug dealer jailed for five years

A drug dealer has been jailed for five years after being involved in the supply of class A drugs in Macclesfield.

Errol Wright, 44, of Erskine Street, Manchester, was jailed at Liverpool Crown Court on December 21 after being found guilty after a trial of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, heroin and crack cocaine.

Jurors took just 40 minutes to convict Wright after specialist officers observed Wright hiding a large package of class A drugs in a remote rural location off Windmill Lane, Macclesfield, in the morning of May 17, 2017.

Officers discovered 80 wraps of crack cocaine and 43 of heroin with an estimated street value of £2,000.

The judge described Wright’s role as “significant” and Wright has now been jailed for 5 years 9 months.

Senior investigating officer Detective Sergeant Adrian Priest said: “Wright had been supplying Class A drugs into Macclesfield for some time and this conviction makes Macclesfield a safer place.

“He was playing a leading role in the supply of drugs to the town and this conviction will severely disrupt those criminals. The officers linked to this investigation worked long hours to gather sufficient evidence to secure this important conviction.”
