Macclesfield murder victim named

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in Tytherington, Macclesfield. 

The man, who died in Macclesfield, has been identified as 62-year-old Paul Cooke.

Police were called to an assault at Brocklehurst Mews on Brocklehurst Way, shortly before 9 pm on Friday 20 December where they found 62-year-old Mr Cooke seriously injured. He was taken to Macclesfield District General Hospital where he later died. 

On Saturday 21 December, a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, taken into police custody and detained under the Mental Health Act. 

Detective Inspector Kate Tomlinson, from Cheshire Police’s Major Investigation Team, said: “While we have arrested a man in connection with this incident the investigation remains ongoing and I encourage anyone who has information to get in touch.”
