Hospice virtual Christmas tree collection

Want to have some fun during this lockdown period?

  • Want to help our hospice continue their caring commitment to our community?
  • So do the organisers of the Christmas Tree Collection, who’ve devised a novel virtual fundraising event.

Christmas Tree Collection: Summer Campaign

East Cheshire Hospice has recently asked its volunteers to name the little mascot from its Christimas Tree Collection logo – and an overwhelming victory went to Firgus!

Now Firgus would like to go away on holiday. As he is a tree he is not restricted by the constraints of social distancing or lack of flights so he would like to travel as far away to as exotic a place as he can. But he needs the money to do so.

This is where you can help. By donating to the hospice, they can fund Firgus’ travel and in return he will send back a postcard each week from where he has reached. The more is donated, the further he will travel. Landing at his final destination on 25th June.

‘What a Christmas Tree does in Summer’ Competition

For all of us stay-at-homes we are running a competition along the theme of ‘What your Christmas tree does in summer’. For those of you who donate, send in your photos and pictures to echtrees@echospice.org.uk and we’ll judge the best ones. As it is a bit of fun, there are no rules other than a couple of T&Cs. Find out more on the website.

So the children might want to dress up as a Christmas tree with a star on their head and baubles on their arms or Dad might want to grab a beer and lounge in a deckchair next to that Christmas tree growing in the garden. Use your imagination and stagger us with your ingenuity! We’ve got some great themed prizes to give away for the best entries.

You can help.

Remember that this is all for fun but the money raised will not of course go into any holiday fund for Firgus. It will go to our wonderful hospice who are continuing through this awful crisis to provide top quality care for those who need it in the in-patient unit and with the Hospice @Home service.

Please help us to get Firgus away to a wonderful holiday. He needs your donations and you can make these at www.echtrees.org.uk

Thank you from us (and from Firgus!)
