Help save part of Macclesfield’s history

Above: The Dams Steps as they are today

Macclesfield resident, Deborah Wellington, has started a petition to restore the old Dams steps which were built to connect Elizabeth Street, in The Dams, to Baker Street and Cotton Street.

In the wisdom of the times, Baker Street and the surrounding area of beautiful old cottages were cleared to make way for Duke Street Car Park.

The top of the steps ar now sealed, with ugly metal fencing, but the steps remain an integral part of Macclesfield\s history.
