Lyme Green housing plans refused

Despite being recommended for approval by planning officers, the council ruled against Morris Homes and the Trustees of The Lyme Green Settlement’s plans for 42 homes on land west of London Road in Macclesfield.

The project had been deferred in July. Committee members felt that subsequent amendments did not go far enough to address their concerns, claiming the scheme represented cramped development that would harm the visual amenity and landscape.

The application had called for the building of 29 market homes and 13 affordable ones. The homes would have between one and five bedrooms.

There would have been more than 23,500 sq ft of public open space across the site.

Astle Planning & Design is the architect, while Savills is the planning consultant. Other project team members include Mode Transport Planning, United Environmental Services, Site Scan, Groundtech Consulting, Ascerta, Hepworth Acoustics, and Hydrock.

The application’s reference number is 21/1249M.
