Sleeping Beauty at Buxton Opera House

After having to rearrange our tickets several times, due to cold viruses and tonsillitis knocking the house out one by one pre Christmas, we finally made it to our favourite theatre, for the penultimate matinee performance of Sleeping Beauty!

With two excited children (and accompanying adults), stocked up with more sweet treats than you could shake a festive donkey at, we settled down for a thoroughly fantastic couple of hours of festive and unique panto entertainment.

The cast, costumes and set were wonderful, the humour had us all laughing out loud and the choreography, talented singing and music was just fabulous . . . from The Jackson Five to Queen, Whitney Houston to Abba, Rick Astley to Wham. The hits brought the entire performance alive with everyone foot tapping and singing along.

The audience participation had young and old shouting out a ‘How ya doing Jock?” every time the cheeky Jock and his lovable cat Thomas appeared on stage, to booing the absolutely fabulous and wickedly quick-witted dame Carbossy, to the old favourites of “He’s behind you” and “Oh no it isn’t!”

So, was it worth the wait to see the performance? Oh yes it was!

Thank you to the Buxton Opera House and everyone involved in this fabulous production, for giving us a truly festive and memorable afternoon out and members of the booking team who went above and beyond to help amend our bookings!
