Cheshire Police recruiting specials

Cheshire Police are recruiting volunteer police officers (special constables).

Applications are currently open and close on Monday 19th February 2024 at 09.00am.

Volunteer police officer’s have the same powers in law as every other police officer, wear the same uniform, carry the same equipment, work alongside regular officers, work on the same operations and focus on problem solving local priorities.

Volunteer police officers need to contribute a minimum of 16 hours per month, but this can be done at a time that fits into their life – as policing is 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

They are put through extensive training – including a Personal Safety Training course designed to help keep themselves and other safe – and training to equip them with sound knowledge in law, process, and policy.

Following their initial training they will be posted to a specific Local Policing Unit (LPU) with their first shifts as a special constable being double crewed with an experienced officer. They will attend a range of incidents from blue light runs, to road traffic collisions, or to neighbourhood disputes.
