Arsonists responsible for Wincle fire?

Police have launched an arson investigation into an outbuilding fire that spread across grassland.

The incident, in Wincle, saw eight fire engines attending.

Firefighters believe the storage container blaze had been started deliberately and Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses.

Firemen from Macclesfield, Bollington, Congleton and Wilmslow, were sent to Ridge Hill to tackle the fire that had spread to surrounding grassland.

After several hours, firemen from Crewe, Ellesmere Port and Knutsford were brought in to tackle the blaze. Nearby residents were advised to keep their windows and doors shut.

During the blaze Ridge Lane had to be shut. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “An investigation has now taken place, and it is believed this fire was started deliberately in a storage container.”

Witnesses should call 101 and quote IML 2094395.
