Offensive poster author sought

Macclesfield Police are investigating a spate of homophobic and transphobic messaging appearing in the town.

There have been three reports of posters on lampposts, in Exchange Street and nearby streets in the town centre, over the past several days.

Officers are checking CCTV and making enquiries in the area to find those responsible.

Inspector Richard Haque said: “The posters are highly offensive. It is incredibly sad that this form of hate is being peddled in our communities and we will not tolerate it.

“I would urge anyone with information that may help us to contact us. That also goes for anyone who has dashcam that may have captured someone putting the posters up.”
