Tributes following death of popular schoolboy

Tributes have poured in for a popular schoolboy who was tragically killed after a road accident while riding his bike.

Tyler Wolstenholme, 13, collided with a silver Dodge Caliber at the junction of the Silk Road and Brook Street, Macclesfield town centre, on Tuesday morning, January 29.

He was airlifted to Manchester Royal Children’s Hospital with serious head injuries but sadly died there later that day.

The popular Macclesfield Academy pupil has been described as a ‘larger than life personality’.

By Thursday morning more than 50 floral tributes had been laid at the scene of the accident along with photographs of Tyler with his friends, balloons, Manchester United scarves and boxes of Jaffa Cakes and Oreos.

The church invited people to ‘reflect and remember Tyler, share memories, light a candle or simply sit quietly’.

Richard Hedge, headteacher at Macclesfield Academy, was among those to pay tribute to Tyler.

He said: “Tyler was a larger than life personality. He had many friends amongst students in all years and he will be much missed by staff and

“Our hearts go out to his family at this very difficult time.”
