BODYCOTE RENEWS DEAL WITH ROLLS ROYCE

Bodycote has signed a 10-year contract renewal with Rolls-Royce to process metals used in its aircraft engines.

Macclesfield-based Bodycote has a facility at the Rolls-Royce factory in Derby and the deal will also generate work for five more Bodycote sites.

Its core business is to make metals stronger and safer using heat treatment and metal joining, including specialised welding.

The agreement, which was announced at the International Paris Air Show, also provides the framework for Rolls-Royce and Bodycote to extend their partnership in other parts of the world, including North America and Asia.

Rolls-Royce signed its first supplier agreement with Bodycote in the early 1980s.

In the late 1990s, Bodycote became the first subcontractor to establish operations within the boundaries of any Rolls-Royce facility, and remains so to this day.

Bodycote has 170 sites in 27 countries, and operates in sectors including aerospace, defence, automotive, power generation, petrochemicals, construction and medical.
