A WORD OF WARNING WHEN BUYING OF THE INTERNET

I was looking for a new camera a month back, narrowed it down to the one I wanted, then trawled the net for the best price etc.

A website SimplyElectronics – http://www.simplyelectronics.net/?gclid=CPukvY7r0KoCFUMf4QodjFaH0g came out top.

Their prices were so hot to the point of being unbelievable so I exercised more than my usual web caution.

I emailed them to query:

1. Do their prices include VAT?

2. Are they based overseas, and will their delivery attract import duties, etc.?

For those who don`t understand, if an item is sent from outside the EU it will attract import duty – and VAT (at 20% will be added). Always ask that question if you`re unsure.

The response I got was:

“With regards to your query, due to special arrangments we have made on your behalf, we do not charge any of our customers VAT.

As a result, we have passed on the saving to our customers by selling our items at a lower and more competitive price.
