EAST THORROCK 0 MACCLESFIELD TOWN 3

They made hard work of it, but Macclesfield finally overcame the opposition at Ryman League side East Thurrock.

A well below-par first period saw Macc keeper Jose Veiga deny the Rocks with some fine saves as a shock looked on the cards.

Macc were hugely inferior in the first half and, although they could easily have turned around three goals down, Carl Tremarco`s goal moments from the whistle gave them an undeserved advantage.

Colin Daniel provided the pull-back but it was Ross Draper`s dummy that sold the defence, allowing Tremarco to fire in off the underside of the bar with his unfavoured right foot.

Macc settled the lingering half-time nerves with two goals in four minutes to settle the tie. Substitute Matty Hamshaw headed in after Draper`s shot had been pushed onto the bar by Rocks keeper Richard Wray.

George Donnelly fired home number three after latching onto Sam Wedgbury`s through ball to ensure the League Two team coasted the final half-hour and put their name in the hat for the second-round draw.
