SILKMEN SIGN MATTIS

Macclesfield Town have added title winning experience to their squad as the club signed Dwaine Mattis from Chesterfield until the end of the season after the midfielder has his contract cancelled at Chesterfield.

Mattis, who was almost ever present for the Spirites as they won the League Two title last season – captaining the side on many occasions – has played 11 times in League One this season and has played the majority of his career at a higher level. But his chances have been limited since an ankle operation in September. He has since recovered and made first team and reserve appearances before leaving the club.

Mattis began his career with Huddersfield, coming through the ranks at the same time as Nat Brown and were at the club together for several years. In fact in the Matchday programme earlier this season, Nat named Dwaine as his `best mate in football`.
