TWO MORE ARMED ROBBERIES IN THE TOWN

Following the robbery at the Britannia Building Society two more armed robberies have taken place in the town.

In the first, at around .45 pm on Wednesday, August 28th, two female staff in the Co-operative store, on Chester Road, were threatened with a knife by a robber, who then stole cash from the till.

The man, who was wearing a hooded top, made to pay for a carton of milk. However, when the till was open he produced a kitchen knife and threatened the shop assistant behind the till, reached over and grabbed cash.

He then ran out of the shop, leaving staff and customers shocked but unharmed.

The robber is described as male, of thin to medium build and about 5ft 11ins in height, wearing a blue Adidas-style top and pale jeans, and gloves. He was wearing a scarf or high necked jumper which was pulled up to obscure his face.
