Buxton Mountain Rescue scale the lofty heights of Market Place

Residents of Macclesfield gave generously when Buxton Mountain Rescue scaled the lofty heights of Macclesfield’s Market Place over the weekend.

The mountain rescue team was formed in 1964 and have been providing invaluable services to local residents and visitors for over 50 years.

Their fundraising day raised £311, which will be used to support the important work done by the team, many of whom live in the Macclesfield constituency.

MP for Macclesfield, David Rutley, was introduced to the team, and had the opportunity to discuss challenges facing the service, ahead of the busy summer holidays.

Speaking after the event, David said, “It is always a pleasure to be able to support the great work done by our local Mountain Rescue Service, both in Macclesfield and in Parliament, where I am an active member of the Mountain Rescue All Party Parliamentary Group. This is a team of volunteers who do very important work by assisting those who cannot be reached by the other emergency services, which is greatly appreciated by the local community. I would like to thank them for all their hard work, on behalf of the people of Macclesfield and those who come to visit our local countryside.”
