Charity match to raise funds for Bosley Mill disaster

Former Macclesfield, Crewe, Port Vale and Stoke City footballers will take to the pitch for a charity match next month.

An ‘all-star’ team, including Efe Sodje, Tony Naylor and Mamady Sidibe, will take on a team of Bosley residents and workers from Bosley Wood Treatment – the scene of an explosion that devastated the village last month.

Darren Broomhead, from Macclesfield, who used to live in Bosley and organised the match, said: “We thought we’d do something to help, and it’s just snowballed.”

Biddulph’s Phil Dowd will referee the match, which will take place at the Moss Rose on Sunday, September 6th.

Tickets cost £5, and all proceeds go towards the families of workers at the Bosley mill.
