Macclesfield remembers Gallipoli this weekend

15th & 16th August

The work of Macclesfield Reflects, The Macclesfield World War One Commemoration Group, continues with a weekend of learning about and remembering those from the Macclesfield area and the 7th Cheshire Regiment who participated in the Gallipoli landings on 9th August 1915.

On Saturday 15th August in The Town Hall, a series of lectures on various aspects of the Gallipoli Campaign will take place. In addition, there will be exhibitions about WW1, Gallipoli and the Macclesfield area in 1915, and a WW1 research helpdesk.

Do you have any local WW1 stories or memorabilia? Please bring them along to share with our research volunteers.

Entrance to The Town Hall is free with a small charge for some of the lectures.

On Sunday 16th August there will be a public Service of Remembrance at St Michael’s Church at 1.00pm followed by a wreath laying ceremony at The War Memorial at Park Green. All are welcome to attend.
