Appeal for Bosley Disaster Fund golf day sponsors

Macclesfield-based ingredients distributor, Direct Food Ingredients, is calling for Cheshire businesses to join them as sponsors on a charity golf day the company is holding in aid of the #HelpBosley Disaster Appeal Fund.

Following the explosions at Bosley Wood Treatment, which resulted in possibly four fatalities*, a number of seriously injured, and the loss of many jobs the community has rallied to help those affected. Direct Food Ingredients is now keen to encourage more contribution to the cause.

The company will hold the golf event on Wednesday 30 September, which will be a fun filled day for all including Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive and Beat the Pro. A sumptuous three course gala dinner and auction will close the event.

The fundraiser is hot on the heels of the successful #HelpBosley event, which took place at Macclesfield Town Football Club on September 6th, when Direct Food Ingredients sponsored mascots.

Businesses are being invited to sponsor one or more of the 18 holes at the golf event and/or donate items for raffle/auction prizes.

Managing director, Steve Loake, said: “As we are based in Macclesfield, what happened in Bosley touched every one of our team and we became determined to help in any way we can.

“We therefore want to invite any local Cheshire businesses to join us in our efforts in becoming a sponsor or donating goods for such a well deserving cause.

“This golf day will not only help raise a lot of money for those in need but it will also help bring the community together for a day of fun after such a tragedy.”

Having formerly worked as a receptionist at the Bosley Mill, Steve’s wife and company secretary at Direct Food Ingredients, Moira Loake, has been at the forefront of organising the event.

She commented: “The community is still struggling to come to terms with the devastation this has caused and the huge impact it has had on those both directly and indirectly involved.

“The event has truly broken the hearts of all in the area and we must continue to do anything we can to help aid the recovery and healing of those affected.”

If you wish to get involved please contact Moira by either calling 0772 5555123 or email helpbosley@directfood.net.
