Royal Liverpool Philharmonic 175th Anniversary Concert

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic will be celebrating their 175th Anniversary in Buxton in December.

If you like classical music or if you would like to experience one of the finest orchestras in the country; you won’t want to miss a special concert taking place in Buxton this month. One of the UK’s oldest surviving classical music societies; Royal Liverpool Philharmonic is currently in residency at Buxton Opera House & Pavilion Arts Centre. On Friday 27 November their huge 56-piece orchestra will offer a programme of Mozart and Mendelssohn that according to organisers ‘positively dances with joy’. The famous Marriage of Figaro overture by Mozart will launch the programme which also includes Symphony No.35 ‘Haffner’ and Mendelssohn’s sun-drenched Symphony No.4 ‘Italian’.

If you manage to get a ticket watch out for acclaimed violinist and conductor Julian Rachlin when he performs as the soloist in Mendelssohn’s hugely-popular Violin Concerto. The virtuoso will play his world famous violin, the “Ex-Liebig” (made in 1704)!

There will be a free pre-concert talk from 5.45pm with Julian Rachlin. The concert starts at 7pm. Tickets are priced from £12.50 to £32.50. The final concert of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Residency will take place on Wednesday 9 December. To buy tickets call the Box Office call 01298 72190 or book online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk
