Cheesy bike is wheelie good

Cheshire East Council is keeping the wheels turning with Cheshire cheese by teaming up with a family-run delicatessen to create a bespoke cheese bike. It’s all in celebration of the Tour of Britain cycle race which comes to Cheshire on September 6.

Daniel Williams, from Godfrey C Williams and Son, presented the bike, which has its saddle and wheels made from local Cheshire cheese, to Councillor David Brown.

The bike will be on display at the Royal Cheshire County Show next week, the Nantwich Show on 27 July, and throughout the Borough in the run up to the Stage 3 race in September.

Cheshire East Council Deputy Leader David Brown said, “This is a wonderful example of how local businesses in the Borough are actively involved with the Tour of Britain.”

Mr Williams said, “As a small local business we are thrilled to be working in partnership with Cheshire East Council to create this iconic symbol that represents the Tour and one of Cheshire’s most famous produces.

“There is already a buzz of excitement from Sandbach businesses at the prospect of this spectacular event passing through our town. I would encourage other businesses throughout the Borough to find out more and get involved with the race.”
