Snow White auditions at Buxton Opera House

BUXTON OPERA HOUSE “SNOW WHITE & the SEVEN DWARFS”

JUVENILE CHORUS AUDITIONS 2016

Auditions attract young performers from a wide area

It seems that travel is no object for parents keen to support their children as performers in Buxton Opera House’s popular pantomime.

The pantomime’s juvenile chorus, led by West End choreographer Sally Brooks, has earned high praise from critics and audiences and the show’s reputation now attracts young hopefuls from throughout the region.  In addition to local dancers, last year’s production of Aladdinfeatured youngsters attending stage schools in Chesterfield, Leek, New Mills, Macclesfield and Stockport, all eager perform on stage at the town’s stunning Grade II star listed theatre.

Buxton’s 2016/17 pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will star Lucy Dixon (from Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks) as Snow White and James Holmes (‘Clive’ from Miranda) as Dame Brenda Bakewell. The show’s producers are looking for 30 juvenile performers aged between 9 and 15 to appear as dancers and to play the dwarfs.  Auditions will take place on Sunday 24 July at the Pavilion Arts Centre in Buxton and the theatre is currently inviting young people to register before the Friday 15th July deadline expires.

There will be a weekend rehearsal from Friday 14th – Sunday 16th October, then rehearsals will run intensively from 17th November – 9th December before the show opens on 10th December for a three week run, ending on 1st January.

The juvenile performers chosen will need permission to miss some days of school and during the show’s run the cast and chorus will be split into two teams, taking part in alternate performances. A small contribution towards expenses will be payable for each performance.

All dancers must be over 4’ 8” (1.422m) in height. Regrettably the producers cannot audition children who will turn 16 on or before 1st January 2017.

Parents should telephone Pat Russell at Buxton Opera House on 01298 72050 to ask for a registration form or visit Buxton Opera House website: http://buxtonoperahouse.org.uk/learning-and-participation and download a form.   For any questions about the audition process please phone CTP Pantomimes on 01963 362937.
