It’s a family affair . . .

It was a family affair at the annual tournament prize giving at Macclesfield Tennis Club this year. The Connolly family, Mum Zarena and sons Dylan and Lewis, won a total of 11 awards between them. The prize giving on a wet Sunday evening followed 2 days of finals matches played in almost dry weather.

Dylan won the Under18 boys’ singles and the Under18 boys’ doubles with Sam Brown. He won the men’s’ singles beating younger brother Lewis in an exciting match and was runner-up in the men’s doubles with Sam Brown. Lewis won the Mike Connolly player of the year cup and also won the Under 15 boys’ singles and Under 15 boys’ doubles with William Cann. He received runner-up awards in the Under 18 boys’ doubles with Tim Leak and in the adult mixed doubles with Mum Zarena. Zarena also came runner up in the ladies singles after a gruelling match against winner Jane Ambler. Finally Lewis and Mum Zarena were runners-up in the mixed doubles final beaten by Dylan playing with Jane Ambler.
