Exhibition: 4th Macclesfield Open Art Exhibition

The Silk Museum, Park Lane, Macclesfield SK11 6TJ
10 December 2016 – 21 January 2017
Monday to Saturday, 10am-3pm
Now in its 4th year, the Macclesfield Open Art Exhibition is a well-established part of the Macclesfield Art Scene; an opportunity for artists, whether established or up-and-coming, from the local area to exhibit their work in a prestigious gallery setting.

Last year, artists from Cheshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire and even further afield submitted around 300 pieces for consideration; over 180 of the best were selected for display. There are no themes for entrants to follow, ensuring a vibrant and varied range of subject matter and technique. The quality of works has improved year on year, so 2016’s exhibition is sure to be outstanding.

There are five prizes available to entrants: the Macc Open Award of £300 and two Highly Commended Awards (£100 each), which are selected by the judging panel. The Mail Boxes Etc. Award (£100) is chosen and donated by the company. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to vote for their favourite piece on display and the winner receives the Visitors’ Choice Award of £100.

Exhibiting artists may offer their work for sale, so visitors have the chance to buy an original to display in their own personal gallery.

Although charges apply to visit The Silk Museum (£4.50/£4, children free), admission to view the 4th Macclesfield Open Exhibition only is free.
