Appeal to trace men involved in Handforth incident

Cheshire Police is appealing for information to help trace two men wanted in connection to a serious incident in Handforth.

Craig Cox, 27, and Michael Martin, 30, are both are from the Salford of Manchester, are wanted in connection to an incident that occurred on 14th October in Handforth where an unmarked police car was attacked with a sledgehammer when officers attempted to stop a black Audi S3 which was travelling on the B5358.

After attacking the unmarked police car the four occupants from the Audi drove away from the scene and the vehicle was later found abandoned. Two men have already been charged in relation to the incident, but two men are still outstanding.

Cox is described as approximately 5ft 6 inches tall, of muscular build with cropped/shaved brown hair and brown eyes. His last known address was in the Lower Kersal area of Salford.  Martin is described as 5ft 5 inches tall, of muscular build, with short brown hair and blue eyes. His last known address was in the Higher Broughton area of Salford.

Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Claire Jesson said: “Thankfully no officers were injured as a result of the incident, however they were left extremely shocked and I believe that these two men pose a danger to our communities.”

Anyone who sees Cox or Martin is advised not to approach them and should instead contact Cheshire Police immediately on 101 quoting Operation Bale or Incident 63 14/10/16. Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
