The collision, involving a heavy goods vehicle and a motorcycle, occurred at around 7.40 am.

The family of Mr Neild said: “He was a beloved father, partner, son and friend. Our family has not come to terms with what has happened and we would request we are left to mourn in private.”

The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

Police Constable Andy Evison said: “Enquiries in relation to this incident are ongoing and I’m keen to hear from anyone who believes they may be able to help with our investigation. “The Flower Pot crossroads is a busy junction and I believe there may have been a number of motorists and pedestrians in the area at the time of the collision who may be able to assist. I’m particularly keen to hear from anyone who believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident.”
