All nine students performed with poise and passion and were a credit to the school and to themselves. Well done to them all, and particularly to our individual winners Isabella, Lily and Amelie as well as our Intermediate Team who will be going forward to the national final in May. I am very excited to be taking this excellent team to our second national final.”

Headteacher Mr E Botwe is delighted that the school will be in the National Finals for the second year in a row: “We were delighted to win the Intermediate Final last year and I know we will give a great account of ourselves yet again. We are proud of all our speakers and it keeps up our great tradition of encouraging youngsters to speak out on matters of concern in our local community. Thanks again to the wonderful Mrs Burke for preparing the team and the Rotary Club of Macclesfield Castle for their ongoing support for local schools.”

Local Rotary President Mary Grant said: “The RC of Macclesfield Castle are so proud of the  students from all the local schools who participate in this competition. To have the courage and conviction to stand in front of a hall full of people and speak so eloquently is amazing. We now look forward to the National Final”.
