Firefighters charity car washes

Firefighters from Macclesfield and Bollington will be picking up their buckets and sponges and washing cars for residents on Saturday 14 March to help raise money for charity.

Bollington’s charity car wash will take place from 10 am at their Albert Road station while Macclesfield’s will commence from 11 am at its Chester Road base.

All funds raised will go to The Fire Fighters Charity, the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance the quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.

Stuart Plaskett, who is the charity’s co-ordinator for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, added: “Car washes are a fantastic way to engage with the community while raising as much as possible to help The Fire Fighters Charity. Any money raised will enable the charity to continue its vital work in providing respite, recuperation and rehabilitation for sick and injured firefighters and their families.”

He continued: “It is always a fun and popular event are calling out to any motorists to bring their cars along to have them washed in return for a donation. As part of the car wash we will also be offering drivers crucial road safety advice which could save lives.”

North West Chair of The Fire Fighters Charity and Assistant Chief Fire Officer Gus O’Rourke said: “The charity car wash is a great way to not only increase awareness of road safety but also to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity, which has provided assistance to serving and retired firefighters for more than 75 years.”
