Welly Walk and Nature needs you

Macclesfield Town Council will be holding their annual Welly Walk and Nature Needs You event on Saturday 9th October between 10 am and 3 pm

The event, taking place in Macclesfield’s West Park, will include free outdoor play and nature themed activities.

The popular, giant storytelling tepee will be making a return – complete with soft cushions and fairy lights to create a cosy atmosphere for children to listen to storytelling.  There’ll be hands-on experiences including supervised flint-fire lighting lessons, archery, bird box making, den building and old favourites such as marshmallow toasting, craft table, birds of prey, creepy crawlies and of course the Welly Walk around the park.

The Welly Walk involves locating numbered clues around the park and carrying small activities highlighting wonders of the great outdoors.

Families are encouraged to drop in any time during the event to collect their clue sheet.

Helena Gowler, Community and Events Manager for Macclesfield Town Council commented that ‘We really missed putting on the Welly Walk and Nature Needs You event last year, and are so glad we can invite people to come and join us in the park this autumn.  Everything is outside and with plenty of space and fresh air, we hope children and their adults, will feel comfortable coming to take part in the activities.”

The free event which is organised by Macclesfield Town Council, is designed to encourage outdoor play during the cooler seasons.

The events, now in its fourth year – after being postponed in 2020, is delivered together with Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers.

The area to the side of West Park café will be used for the event.  Don’t forget your wellies!
