M&S set to become The Hub

Plans are being drawn up to transform the Marks & Spencer building in Mill Street into The Hub.

M&S is closing its Macclesfield store in autumn 2022 and opening a Simply Food outlet at Barracks Mill retail park.

The 56,000 sq ft property is currently being marketed on behalf of a private investor, who hopes to transform the store into a mixed use offices, co-working, retail and leisure hub.

Plans are currently being drawn up for the scheme, called ‘The Hub’.

When the Macclesfield town centre store closes, the building will be offered as a whole or let in parts.

Indicative proposed floor plans show retail and leisure space on the ground floor, with 5,260 sq ft of co-working office space on the first and second floor but nothing yet for the third floor.
