Macclesfield u3a open meeting

Macclesfield u3a (University of the third age) will be holding its first post-pandemic, face to face meeting this month.

The meeting takes place at The Calvary Church, off Earlsway, on Thursday 24th March – 10.00 am for 10.15 am start – with speaker Bob Bracegirdle who will be talking about Campanology – bell-ringing to you and me!

There’ll be opportunities to see the work of many of the groups and a chance to talk to group leaders about what they do.

Everyone is invited to go along for a coffee and to learn about Macclesfield u3a.

Macclesfield u3a is a mutual self-help organisation of retired or semi-retired members who wish to socialise and learn.  We have nearly fifty groups, covering a whole range of activities including, outdoor pursuits, arts and crafts, languages, the sciences, sports, social activities, photography, literature and much more.

We come together to learn, share our knowledge with others and to keep active. We do not run formal courses or examinations or award certificates and no qualifications are necessary to join. However, you will learn a lot, gain much enjoyment and make many friends, from all walks of life. New groups are created based on the interests of the members.

The membership fee is £28.00 per annum, which covers the period from April 1st to March 31st each year.  A member may attend any number of activity groups.  For those groups which meet in an outside venue ie Church or Village halls, Leisure centre/Playing fields an additional payment may be required.

Macclesfield u3a is a charity in its own right and is run entirely by volunteers, drawing upon the knowledge and skills of its members to manage and provide interest groups in accordance with the wishes of the membership. We are just one branch forming part of the u3a international organisation.

Look at our web site  www.u3asites.org.uk/macclesfield/home   for more information about our activities, call the membership secretary 07900 408753  or  download a New Member Application form.    Come and join us, you will be made very welcome.
