Deafness Support Network (DSN), an organisation dedicated to empowering individuals with sensory loss, hosted an Open Day at their Macclesfield office, showcasing a range of services offered to the community.
The event, at DSN on Bridge Street, brought together local officials, and guests to raise awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by people with sensory loss in the area.
Mayor of East Cheshire Rod Fletcher attended, along with Councillors Liz Braithwaite, David Edwards and Mary Brooks.
DSN, which is responsible for the statutory contract for adult social services in Cheshire East, highlighted the impactful work carried out by DSN and emphasised the need for support to ensure an inclusive and accessible environment for all members of the community.
DSNs Executive, Gill Reeder, expressed her gratitude to all attendees and supporters of the event. She said: “We are delighted to have welcomed the Mayor and Councillors to our Open Day. This event is a testament to our unwavering commitment to serving those with sensory loss in Macclesfield, the wider Cheshire area and beyond. Through our range of specialised services, we strive to create a supportive environment where individuals with sensory loss can thrive and lead fulfilling lives.”
The Open Day featured interactive demonstrations of hearing equipment and informative sessions, providing an insightful look into the diverse array of services provided by DSN. From sign language classes, assistive technology training, advocacy services, to social events that foster a sense of community, DSN offers comprehensive support tailored to the unique needs of individuals with sensory loss.
Mayor of East Cheshire Cllr Rod Fletcher said: “I was very impressed with the work and attitude of the DSN Staff. I was also amazed at the advances in technical support that is now available to help those in need of deafness support.”
