MP asks council to re-think Poynton Pool plans

Local MP, David Rutley, called on Cheshire East Council to withdraw the Planning Application relating to Poynton Pool.

David is urging Council leaders to agree to one of the alternative proposals made by Friends of Poynton Pool.

The community group has come up with two alternative solutions, aiming to be more environmentally friendly whilst protecting more of the much-valued trees at Poynton Pool.

Both plans have been submitted to Cheshire East Council for consideration and David is urging the council to give them the consideration they deserve.

The Friends of Poynton Pool, Poynton Town Council and others have also highlighted concerns regarding the accuracy of information and guidance that has been provided to Cheshire East Council by Jacobs.

In light of this, David has also asked that the Council’s Economy and Growth Committee review these plans and for the Council to further engage with all the interested groups and residents to discuss the alternative proposals.

Since the Council’s Spillway Improvements were announced, David has received a high volume of correspondence from local residents, setting out their strong concerns in relation to the planning application and the impact the proposed works will have on many of the trees in the surrounding area and on the local environment.

He had previously written to the former interim Chief Executive of the Council numerous times and met on site with both the Friends of Poynton Pool and Cheshire East Council officers.
