RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2017

From 19 to 23 July, the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park will return to Cheshire’s spectacular 1,000-acre deer park for one of the North’s calendar highlights. The Great Garden Party will play host to spectacular Show Gardens, Water Gardens, Back to Back Gardens, and an array of Grow-Your-Own inspiration.

This RHS Young Designer of the Year competition will return once again to give young inspiring garden designers, aged 28 years and under, the chance to kick-start their careers and gain exposure at a prestigious RHS Flower Show. A constant nurturer of young talent, RHS Tatton acts as a platform for inspirational new designers to get a head start in horticulture, with many going on to design at other Shows, such as Hugo Bugg and Sam Ovens, who went on to exhibit at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Anca Panait, 27 from Glasgow, has created a working environment connecting the standard office with the outdoors to provide a space for observation and for privacy. The woodland style planting of Prospect & Refuge echoes this by offering enclosure and escape from the outside world, as height variations act as a buffer from city noise, allowing for quiet, undisturbed work.

25 -year-old London-based Jake Curley’s Business & Pleasure garden is inspired by the highline and New York rooftops typical of urban environments. Designed as a functional office space within a natural setting, the garden aims to enhance creativity and happiness throughout the working day. A long meeting table looks out over spectacular views, illustrating the juxtaposition of the space and its use.

Third finalist, Ula Maria Bujauskaite, 24 from Northampton has designed Studio Unwired, an outdoor take on contemporary hot-desking. Providing a tranquil and rustic environment, the garden is intended to transport workers out of their crowded and conventional offices into earthy, natural surroundings. This city office theme is also reflected in the distinct working spaces which vary between desks and informal seating areas, interspersed between gnarled pine trees.
In addition, the much loved Back-to-Back Gardens, which returned to RHS Tatton in 2015 after a three year absence, will showcase clever designs ideal for small spaces, inspiring visitors to get stuck in and transform their own green spaces at home.

A host of other Show favourites, such as the RHS National Flower Bed Competition and much-loved Cheshire Gardens of Distinction, will also feature, along with live demonstrations from some familiar faces in the Feast Theatre and amazing Great British Allotments exhibits.

The ever-popular Ladies Day will also be hosted at the show on Friday 21 July, offering a range of rousing talks from inspiring women in horticulture and a botanically influenced fashion show.

With all of this, as well as some amazing local exhibitors, visitors are sure to have a great day out at this year’s RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.
