Freemasons contribute to Macclesfield Christie appeal

Rob Bramley, Senior Cheshire Freemason, recently attended The Christie to make a £12,500 donation to Dr Andrew Sykes, Roger Spencer and Aislinn Walsh at the start of the appeal to raise money for the construction of a new centre in Macclesfield.

Treating more than 44,000 patients each year, 26% of whom are referred from hospitals across the UK, every year there are more than 6,500 patient journeys from the East Cheshire area.

For those patients who live furthest away, going to The Christie can mean a journey time of two hours or more, which puts tremendous pressure on them and their families at a time when they are already dealing with emotional stress of a cancer diagnosis.

Aislinn, who is leading on the epic fundraising effort to raise £23Million, was at the launch of the fundraising event and thanked the Masons for the donation to help kick-start and help raise awareness of the fundraising efforts.
