Rotary – Be a gift to the world

The regional District Governor Nigel Danby of Rotary district 1280 in the Northwest’s 80 Rotary clubs and over 2000 members spoke at The Macclesfield Castle Rotary club last evening where he set out his and the Rotary vision of ‘Be a gift to the world’  These gifts are the skills and talents of Rotary members who undertake many and varied activities and fund-raising to make their communities a better place.

Macclesfield Castle club with an expanding membership supports local schools, charities and manpower for parades and more together with a very varied social and speaker programme.  Internationally it has three twinned Rotary clubs in Europe as well as links with many of the 50,000 clubs around the world many of whom have helped to eradicate polio from the planet. Only three countries and 330 cases reported last year.  Nigel said “A future without polio is a gift that we have promised to the children of the world and indeed it is a gift that we will give.”
