Appeal for witnesses to Rostherne-Tatton motorcyclists death

Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses following a collision on the outskirts of Knutsford.

On Sunday 19 July at around 5.15pm police received reports of a serious collision on Ashley Road in Rostherne at the junction with Rostherne Lane and Tatton Park’s ‘Rostherne Drive’ gateway.

The incident involved a motorbike, which was travelling along Ashley Road towards Ashley village, and a silver Mercedes minibus taxi, which was coming out of Rostherne Lane onto Ashley Road.

The rider of the motorbike, a 17-year-old man from Manchester, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Sadly, the rider – named as Badal Mota – has since died.

Officers are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision and may have seen anything significant to get in touch.

The Tatton Park Food Festival was taking place at the time and police are keen to hear from anyone who was using Ashley Road or Rostherne Lane around this time or anyone who had attended the event and may have witnessed what happened.

Officers are keen to trace a white Nissan vehicle, which was seen in the area around the time of the incident.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 724 of 19 July.  Information can also be left anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
