Be part of the razzle dazzle of Chicago

For the third year, Buxton Opera House will be throwing its doors open to wannabe performers of the future.

Young local performers are being sought out once more to star in our latest amateur production – Chicago. Following on from Oliver! and West Side Story, Buxton Opera House Chief Executive and director of Hairspray Paul Kerryson will be once again taking the directors seat. Paul and a creative team will be on hand to pass on their expertise.

Paul said “This is a superb opportunity for local performers to appear in one of the most famous musicals of all time.  We are looking for dancers, singers and actors of all genders to perform the iconic roles in this story of murder, corruption and treachery!  If you are between the ages of 16 and 30 apply for an audition via the website. Good Luck!”  

Anyone interested in auditioning must download and return a completed application form to prussell@boh.org.uk by Friday 20 December. Application forms are available on our website. Auditions for all roles will be held on Sunday 5 January at 2.30 pm at Buxton Opera House.

Chicago is set in the 1920s, nightclub star Velma Kelly, who is serving time for the murder of her husband and sister, is staging her showbiz comeback. However, Velma’s plans of media domination are threatened when Roxie Hart lands herself in jail, and the spotlight, after killing her lover.

Chicago is one of the longest-running productions in Broadway history and boasts some of the best-loved numbers including All That Jazz and Razzle Dazzle.
