Despite this being the tenth Lisa Mills gig in Langley, (that’s Langley, near Macclesfield UK – not Langley, Virginia), it’s the first time we’d seen her.
When I think of what we’ve been missing all those years!
Lisa’s been visiting Nigel and Sally Hammill, at their Langley farm, for ten years – and as a way of saying thanks and helping the community of Langley – she puts on a one-woman show at the village hall. And what a show it was.
We just love to pigeonhole – and on Lisa’s promo posters she’s often described as being a gospel singer – which brings to mind American Baptist Churches and “Praise the Lord!”
Maybe that’s where her career started – but she’s now way beyond – and up there with some of the big names of rock, country, blues – and yes, gospel.
Buxton Opera House have been missing a trick here – next time she’s this side of the pond they should snap her up.
This year Lisa was supported by local songsmith Charli White – watch out for her – she’s a young lady going places.
Check out the videos of Lisa and Charli on YouTube – links below – and see what you missed. As YouTube was being particularly difficult, you may have to run a search for “Lisa Mills at Langley Village Hall”.
We’re sure Lisa will be back again in 2021 so keep an eye out.
